Felling and Processing of Large Trees with a Diameter Exceeding 760mm at Felling Height
Pre-Course Requirements:
To attend this course trainees must already hold a qualification in Chainsaw Maintenance, Cross Cutting and Felling and Processing Medium Trees up to 760mm.
This course is intended for experienced operators wishing to understand the complexities of felling large trees where the diameter at felling height exceeds 760mm. It includes the setup and operation of assisted felling systems and mechanical and hydraulic felling aids.

This 3-day course will cover the following topics:
- Legislation
- Risk Assessment and communication
- PPE and First Aid Provision
- Planning the felling operation including a tree assessment
- Felling techniques including the implementation of felling wedges
- Use of mechanical felling aids
- Winch assisted felling including the set up and operation of combined winch systems linking wire and textile rope-based systems
- Processing methods for dealing with the crown
Notes
- On completion of the training, a Treepartner Training Record of Training and Achievement (certificate) will be issued
- Following successful completion of the training, Treepartner Training Ltd can organise the related City & Guilds NPTC Level 3 Certificate of Competence in Felling and Processing Large Trees over 760mm (Qualification No: 0039-34)
