Safe Management of Uprooted, Broken, Leaning and Hung-up Trees

Pre-Course Requirements:

To attend this course trainees must already hold a qualification in Chainsaw Maintenance, Cross Cutting and Felling and Processing Medium Trees up to 760mm.

This course is designed to follow course F03. It is for experienced operators wishing to understand the complexities of managing uprooted, broken, leaning and hung-up trees and the operation of the associated equipment including the industrial portable winch.

This 3-day course will cover the following topics:
  • Legislation
  • Risk Assessment
  • PPE and First Aid Provision
  • Felling technique update
  • Planning the felling sequence when managing multiple windblown sites
  • Chainsaw techniques for dealing with uprooted, broken, leaning and hung-up trees and standing stems, including associated tension and compression forces
  • Selection and inspection of a range of winch equipment
  • Hand winch setup and operation for the management of uprooted, broken and hung-up trees
  • Set up and operation of a portable industrial power winch for moving timber

Notes

  • On completion of the training, a Treepartner Training Record of Training and Achievement (certificate) will be issued
  • Following successful completion of the training, Treepartner Training Ltd can organise the related City & Guilds NPTC Level 3 Certificate of Competence in Dealing with Interwoven Stems and Part Blown Trees (Qualification No: 0039-35).
