Safe Working on Steep and Unstable Surfaces
This ‘stand-alone’ course aims to equip trainees with the necessary skills to access a range of steep surfaces safely and efficiently. Examples of this type of environment include vegetation research, rhododendron management, grass cutting, scrub clearance and tree felling.

This 3-day course will cover the following topics:
- Legislation
- Risk Assessment
- PPE and First Aid Provision
- Managing steep ground operations
- Site zonation
- Communication
- Climbing system selection, inspection, and system design
- Establishing suitable anchors including implementation of suitable edge protection solutions
- Set up and operation of a range of lowerable descent/ascent and work positioning systems
- Rescue planning and techniques to include lift, lower and pick-off methods
- Working with tools on steep ground
Notes
- Following successful completion of the training, a Treepartner Training Record of Training and Achievement (certificate) will be issued.
