Safe Working on Steep and Unstable Surfaces

This ‘stand-alone’ course aims to equip trainees with the necessary skills to access a range of steep surfaces safely and efficiently. Examples of this type of environment include vegetation research, rhododendron management, grass cutting, scrub clearance and tree felling.

This 3-day course will cover the following topics:
  • Legislation
  • Risk Assessment
  • PPE and First Aid Provision
  • Managing steep ground operations
  • Site zonation
  • Communication
  • Climbing system selection, inspection, and system design
  • Establishing suitable anchors including implementation of suitable edge protection solutions
  • Set up and operation of a range of lowerable descent/ascent and work positioning systems
  • Rescue planning and techniques to include lift, lower and pick-off methods
  • Working with tools on steep ground

Notes

  • Following successful completion of the training, a Treepartner Training Record of Training and Achievement (certificate) will be issued.
